Staying True to Your Values Through Massive Growth

Staying True to Your Values Through Massive Growth

When Carm Huntress founded RxRevu in 2013, he spent more than a year in a shared workspace, researching and formulating ideas on how to best tackle the problem of prescription drug costs, and how to help providers have better conversations with patients around affordability.

Carm sought to take prescription decision support from a concept to a reality for providers, payers, and health systems. After several years of research, analysis, trial and error, and product pivots, his dedication to transforming the value of healthcare through better prescribing decisions started to pay off. The company’s growth in the past few years has been massive, transitioning from a few employees in downtown Denver to a 65-person company that has claimed a top spot on the Inc. 5000 list.

We now work with some of the most prominent health systems, EHR vendors, and PBMs/plans, helping transmit valuable patient data to the point of care. We attribute this success to open communication, a belief in our mission, and the importance of our company’s values, which are at the core of how—and why—we do business:

Prioritize the Patient | We keep patients at the heart of what we do and simplify healthcare complexities by creating solutions that measurably improve affordability, transparency, and accessibility of care.

Take Disciplined Risk | We challenge assumptions, take action, and accept that mistakes are a part of the path to growth.

Do What’s Right | Our healthcare system is complex and confusing, and we hold ourselves and each other accountable to make decisions with integrity, no matter how difficult the choice.

Win as a Team | We achieve greater success by collaborating and embracing unique perspectives, and we believe we are better together.

Relentless Improvement | We require continuous progress for ourselves, our products, and the impact we have in the healthcare community.

It’s great to have core values that employees can stand behind, but it’s even more important to stick to them—especially as your company experiences rapid growth. A couple of ways to ensure you keep your values front-of-mind during change, include:

Don’t think of values as abstract ideas; bring them to your strategic business conversations to help your team align around a goal. For example, Prioritize the Patient is always driving our framework of what products we do and don’t consider, and what business decisions we make.

Recognize your staff when they exemplify a core value. Each month, we present the Lucy Up Award to a team member who has helped the company grow or achieve a milestone because they took disciplined risks, did what’s right, and were focused on relentless improvement.
